Ewes For Sale
Registered Horned Dorset

Here in the countryside of Northwest Missouri,  we're proud to maintain 200 registered Horned Dorsets, each one developed from champion Cassell, Allen and Spilde bloodlines.  Originally from the Country Dorset in the British Isles, this handsome, rare breed is well known for its excellent mothering and milking abilities, as well as it's ability to produce multiple lambs throughout the year.  It's an early-maturing sheep that, with careful management, can result in an annual lambing percentage around 250%.  Rams are also prized for their ability to sire top-quality lambs, even if bred with ewes of another breed.  Crossbred lambs will also retain the Horned Dorset's ability to breed out-of-season.

Horned Dorset lambs are valued for quick growth (prime lambs can be butchered at 10 weeks of age) and lean, flavorful carcasses.  They are a versatile breed that adjusts well to a wide range of environmental conditions including altitude, rainfall, and temperature. Horned Dorsets also produce a pure white, lightweight fleece, excellent for hand spinning, with ewes yielding 5 -7 pounds of wool per animal.  Grading quality is 56s/50s: short demi-lustre.  Both sexes bear beautiful curled horns and have a strong flocking instinct.

Throughout the year, we offer both breeding stock and young lambs for sale.  If your're interested in this versatile breed or are looking for a way to improve your current flock, give us a call!!
